Ryan L. Garelick
Chief Operating Officer / Managing Director
As Chief Operating Officer and a Managing Member, Mr. Garelick focuses on firm-wide growth and bringing innovation to every part of the firm’s infrastructure in order to better create value and drive successful outcomes for the firms positions. He plays a leading role in all aspects of the team’s business including wealth management, brand management, business development, deal generation and client servicing. His areas of concentration include wealth management, brand marketing, risk strategies, deal flow and portfolio construction.
Prior to establishing Lineage, Ryan was a Senior Managing Partner and VP at LG Holdings Corp where he oversaw investments, endorsements, licensing and business development across a myriad of industries including sports, fashion, media and entertainment. A prolific content creator and media executive, Mr. Garelick is a founding partner and former COO of 1Spot Media – a media investment and private equity company focused on opportunities generated in the ecosystem of sports, entertainment and technology.
Previously, he was an Executive at The Mottola Company where he spearheaded the pivot from a record label (Casablanca Records) to a powerhouse entertainment-focused music company, while also co-founding the consumer brand practice developing licensing deals for label artists with top consumer brands.
Ryan began his career in investment banking at Bear Stearns and later became a Partner of several successful, VC-backed, ventures where he held various board positions.
Mr. Garelick earned a BS in both Finance and Marketing from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Matthew Shapiro
Chief Executive Officer / Managing Member
Mr. Shapiro is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Member of Lineage Advisors as well as Founding Member and CEO of Devon Capital.
Mr. Shapiro brings almost 2 decades of corporate finance, real estate and investing experience with $4 billion of capital raised across corporate finance transactions, private equity and asset management. He spent 11 years at Alliance Bernstein from 2008 – 2019 as an advisor to family offices, high net worth clients and philanthropic organizations. Prior to that, he worked for the CFO as VP of Capital Markets for Capital Trust, a publicly traded real estate finance company founded by Sam Zell and began his career in the investment banking group of Bear Stearns & Co.
Mr. Shapiro earned a BS, cum laude, in economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Shapiro is active in his neighborhood in Manhattan serving on the Board of his cooperative apartment and as liaison with local community leaders. He also spends a great deal of time fundraising for the University of Pennsylvania.
Matthew and his wife, Lindsey, live on the Upper East Side with their daughter, Sloan, and son, Drew.
